The Shop

You can find our shop in the centre of Aalter, a quiet town between Ghent and Bruges.

Going to a city can be great fun as a trip, but going shopping with children can be a real bustle. It's hard to find a parking spot close to the shop you want to visi, there's always a lot of traffic, long queues, and strollers are not that easy to handle ...

In no time you are in Aalter and nearby the shops you easily find a parking spot.

Children love to come to De Verborgen Schat. They can play in the children's corner: the youngest ones can ride on our walking bike, and the eldest can read books or cartoons. For our little babies we have a playing blanket. And, quite important when shopping with children, we have a toilet, and for emergencies we even have diapers.

When going home we alwa';?>ys have a little present for our youngest clients. Each child receives a little animal. No need to tell you that your children will start their own collection!

Feel free to come to our shop as many times as you like. You can take a look around, try on some new outfits, and if necessary, we give you correct and honest advise.

For each purchase you receive a voucher of 5% for the next purchase. You do not need to save this voucher. That's our service. No more lost or forgotten vouchers. When shopping at De Verborgen Schat, you will always receive your 5%.

We also keep up records of all articles you bought with us. This can be very handy when shopping without your kids, and when you are doubting about a size. Of course, you can always exchange clothes that do not fit. That's also our service, even during sale. Nobody is happy when a garment is condemned to the closet, are they?

At De Verborgen Schat we offer various paying possibilities: with cash or bank/creditcards.

Excited to know us? Come and visit us and you'll be suprised.

About us

De Verborgen Schat is a shop with a personal touch. My name is Heidi and I'm the mother of 3 children: Sebastian (15), Isaura (12) and Lennard (7). After having worked for almost 10 years in tourism and a short while in multimedia, I felt I was ready to do something else.

In my spare time, only once in a while, I loved to go shopping for nice clothes for my kids. Not just classical outfits, but clothes that had that little extra. And really, sometimes it was a difficult search to find those things I liked.

At those times, internet was not yet really a hype. After some time, I did find some really nice shops. But the more new shops I found, the more I wanted to set up my own unique shop.

For some years already we were living in Aalter, a town with a perfect location between Bruges and Ghent. I found a place to rent and only a short time later I was selecting collections.

It was not always easy. Buying clothes for a broader public is quite different than buying for your own children.

But from the immediate start, our clients were enthusiastic. One of my very first clients told me once: "I just love to come to your shop, it really feels like home!".

That's the feeling I would like to give to all my clients. Each client can come in and take a look around, without insistent commercial talk. Of course, I give correct and honest advise when necessary. Not all colours or models are right for every child. You can try on as many clothes as you like. I believe it's very important to help you find the right outfit for your child, an outfit in which your child feels good, and in which it looks unique and powerful. The bottom-line is a personal approach and service.

In August 2007 we opened a second store on the world wide web. This is quite unique for the Belgian markt, as we are the very first online shop with our selection of brands.

In order to go along with new tendencies, we always look for new brands that fit well with our collections.

Just come over, and feel free to take a look around in De Verborgen Schat or at hiddentreasures.be!

Kind regards

Heidi Vervaecke

Webshop

Clients from The Netherlands, Germany and the States started ordering new collections by email. This made us realize that it was time to start our webshop.

After a thorough preparation, and many hours of hard work, our winter collection 2007/2008 was online. And with immediate success as the first orders came in a few hours after our launch.

And in fact, this is quite logical as HiddenTreasures.be allows you to shop whenever you are free. We are here for you 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

After receipt of your payment, the package is sent to you. Of course, you are still free to pick up the package at our shop, or to have it sent to another address.

Our Brands

We sell following brands:

Anne Kurris

Anne Kurris studied graphic design at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts and St-Lucas school, both in Antwerp. The fashion poster Anne Kurris designed in 1986 for Jean Paul Gaultier and Régine Chopinot marked her debut in the fashion world. She worked as a graphic designer for Dries Van Noten, Walter Van Beirendonck en Dirk Van Saene.

Ten years ago, in 1988, she started her own children's collection. Being a graphic designer, it is quite evident that Anne Kurris' collection has a graphic approach. Her view is very clear and sophisticated: a lot of prints on t-shirts in a fresh, authentic style, knitwear in brigt colours. The designs are pure ans mostly a mixture of several influences: sometimes romantic and frivol in contrast to a rough look.

The collection for boys and girls is optimistic with a touch of humour. The fabrics are always natural: coton, linen, silk and wool. Anne Kurris's collection does focus on creativity and high quality.

Aymara

Bellerose

The name Bellerose may not reveal it, but the brand (born in 1989)is entirely belgian: authentic, relaxed and tongue-in-cheek. Bellerose remains true to its unmistakable character and knows how to translate classic themes in a stylish and refined manner.

Every season, the kids' collection shows the typical relaxed style of this brand. zien. Bellerose perfectly knows how to combine casualness with a certain chic. The wealth of materials and the deep-seated love for detail and workmanship are typical of Bellerose.

Our all-time favourites are the shirts, sweaters and the perfect-fit trousers. The Bellerose collections is all-round, relaxed and self-willed, just like today's kids!

Imps & Elfs

Imps&Elfs originated in 1997 as a modest children's label without frill and fancies, which concentrates on the shape of a child. Fons Cohen is the owner and founder, and Jacqueline Streng the designer. The collection is divided into a new-born and a toddler's line. Next to classic white and grey, there is also a wide range of bright and up-to-date colours.

Since 2007 Imps&Elfs also carries a jeans line for children from 2 till 12 years: contemporary jeans with a perfect fit.

We strongly support the extra mission of Imps&Elfs.

Imps&Elfs works with Made-By, a subsidiary of the Dutch Solidaridad fair trade organization, to clean up the production process. The ultimate goal of this cooperation between fashion and fair trade is to produce clothes that are 100% child labour free and that are made of organic cotton.

Josie

Based on the past, designed for the future.

Josie is a Belgian label created by two sisters, a sober children's collection in magnificent fabrics. 'Simplicity' and 'quality' are the main factors that turn the collection into real couture with great appearance. To create timeless pieces, great care is given to select the right fabrics. Children should look like princes and princesses every single day!

The "Josie-concept" consists of three parts: the pret-a-amener collection, sold to multibrand boutiques, the pièce-unique collection and the couture-sur-mesure collection.

The pret-a-amener collection is the basis with no influence of seasonal trends at all. All pieces are timeless. The collection is limited with basic pieces that may return every year, unique pieces or pieces in a limited edition. The black pants for example (just one like the one dad and granddad probably have) will always be part of the collection.

Kik*Kid

Inspired by the birth of a close friend’s baby in 1996, Ineke Grovenstein designed a series of unique hats and caps for babies that looked innocent, natural and fashionable at the same time. Grovenstein studied fashion design at the arts academy of Kampen. She had been designing avant-garde woman’s fashion collections before and ran a gallery for fashion, sculptures, paintings and special projects like an arts hotel.

After the first collection with only one-of-a-kinds, the designer decided to make broader collections. In 1997, the hip hats of KIK-KID were for sale in four children’s clothing stores over Amsterdam.

Nowadays, KIK-KID hats, caps and clothing are available in many shops throughout the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, Denmark, Spain and America. Every year, two seasonal collections are presented. One of the most popular hats has been the Speedy, that has become like a brand design over the years.

A collection of clothing combines with the hats and caps. Whith very simple design but extraordinary fit, KIK-KID clothes look as they are: fun and easy to wear.

KIK-KID makes them to fit right, feel comfortable, be practical and to make sure they cuddle a kid’s face with a fashionable sense of humor. Designs look simple and considerate, but excell in fit and comfort. KIK-KID’s forms follow the shape of a child’s body. Bonnets do not twist around the head, clothing is nice to wear and easy to get in and out of, so KIK-KID designs strike children very authentic.
